Conference Fellowships

 

To facilitate the integration of library practice with research, The Institute for Library and Museum Services (IMLS) has signed on as a presenting sponsor of the Library Research Seminar-V conference and it is providing funding for fellowships for students, junior faculty and practitioners to attend the conference.

 

There are 10 fellowships available in each of three categories; the fellowships include:

 

Student (master’s or doctoral)

  • Registration for 2 ½ day conference, which includes: Wed. night reception; (3)continental breakfasts; and lunches on Thursday and Friday
  • Three nights lodging at the conference hotel

    Junior faculty (less than five years since earning degree)

  • Registration for 2 ½ day conference, which includes: Wed. night reception; (3)continental breakfasts; and lunches on Thursday and Friday

    •  

    Practitioner (librarian, archivist or other information-related position)

  • Registration for 2 ½ day conference, which includes: Wed. night reception; (3)continental breakfasts; and lunches on Thursday and Friday

    Individuals who receive one of these fellowships will be asked to perform a service for the conference. The following are service choices:

  • Presenting a paper at the conference (Proposals must be submitted by March 15, 2010. See conference website for more information: http://www.lrsv.umd.edu/proposalcall.html)
  • Writing a blog about the conference
  • Assisting with logistics of the conference for 6 hours (room monitoring, registration desk, etc.)
  • Other (the individual may specify)

    Important Dates:

    Deadline for applications: March 31, 2010

    Winners notified by: May 15, 2010

    Dates of conference: October 6-9, 2010
